The story starts in the early 1920s when power tools were not yet in existence and all heavy work was still done by hand. To make such hard labour easier, American inventor Edmond Michel developed the world's first electrically powered hand-held circular saw in 1923.
The company changed its name to the SKIL Corporation in the 1950s. In the 1970s, SKIL started to set up a network of factories, service centres and sales branches all around the world. After the company was taken over by Bosch in 1996, SKIL continued to grow steadily.
